You can't go wrong with DVDFab I've been using it for about 5 years now and so far it's been able to make a backup of any DVD I throw at it!

I have used the free version of DVDFab for a few years and combined with the free ImgBurn program it's the best "FREE" dvd ripper/ backup combination to the best of my knowledge. The paid version is even better! It has a few more perks and is well worth the cost. (I don't need the extras which is the only reason I haven't bought it).
